Live with the Brighton Symphony: Summer Concert in the Park

I had such a wonderful time singing with the Brighton Symphony Orchestra this week for their Summer concert. Outdoor concerts are always risky, but the rain held off (I’d like to think my first song had something to do with it), and it was great seeing so many friends in the large and generous audience.

If you weren’t able to make it to the concert, the playlist below shares recordings of the songs I sang, all written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley:

On a Wonderful Day Like Today comes from The Roar of the Greasepaint, The Smell of the Crowd – definitely one of my favorite titles for a musical. This was a follow-up to their very successful Stop the World, I Want to Get Off, and also the source of Feeling Good, made famous by Nina Simone and covered more recently by Michael Bublé. (If you’re only going to listen to one, start here – this was such fun to sing!)

We then shifted to their most popular score for Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and it was such a treat to end my set with I’ve Got a Golden Ticket, which I included in Let’s Go to the Movies.

Thanks again to conductor Jonathan Allentoff and the entire orchestra for letting me join them for this concert – I hope you enjoy listening!
