It was a great pleasure performing in two separate concerts this summer – I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to sing wonderful songs with two very talented orchestras, and to see so many good friends in the audience for these performances.
The weather for the July 8 outdoor concert with the Brighton Symphony Orchestra at Buckland Park in Brighton lovely – not too hot and with a gentle breeze (which creates its own problems for the orchestra’s music). And how wonderful it was to be able to perform in front of such a large and enthusiastic crowd! It was an evening for key moments in American Music – some Duke Ellington, a little Rodgers and Hammerstein (pulled from Young at Heart), and a bit of Disney magic sprinkled in for fun.
And then a few days later I joined Shaya Greathouse and Mary Wojciechowski for a concert with the Eastman Community Music School’s Summer Studio Orchestra. As this was a celebration of Broadway & Hollywood, I was able to Go the Distance (from Let’s Go to the Movies) and While We’re Young by Rochester’s own Alec Wilder, and join Shaya and Mary for two delightful trios to end the concert.
I’m hoping to post some videos from these concerts over the next few weeks – be sure to check my accounts on YouTube and Facebook for the latest videos. And to those who were able to attend these concerts – thank you so very much. I really appreciate the support you provide, and look forward to seeing many of you again at concerts in the fall and winter.
